My Adult Yarn

I always dreamed of having a brief encounter with my possible first love at a speed dating table with only the candle light between us. Speed dating has always been a hobby of mine. I do it more out of habit than I do for the fun of it anymore. Once I met a struggling actor from New York City. He told me all about his attempts at making his big break on stage. He had traveled all across the United States and had been to several European countries. He was such a treat. Another time I met a man who had been married and divorced seven times and had one child from each marriage. I was more than a little bit intimidated by that fact but he proved to be a very nice fellow. Our courtship, however, only lasted a mere five minutes. That was all it took to figure out that we really had nothing we needed to make a lasting relationship. Then there was the time I met a bull rider. For whatever reason it really amused him to tell me all about the numerous injuries he has acquired since starting his bull riding career. He also proceeded to show me his most recent scars. I must say that I was extremely happy when that date was over. After meeting characters like that you would think that I would have found my first and only true love by now. Maybe not. A girl can dream about it. I have actually benefited a great deal from speed dating. I have made some great connections with people whom I can add to my professional network. I have gotten a few extra perks from my job because of it. I have also made a few really good friends that I see from time to time. Whenever I have free time and I want to go out to dinner or a movie I can always call one of them. However, I still have not found what I am looking for. I think I am looking for a long term companion and I am not sure I will find him at a speed dating event. I suppose there is no harm in trying, though. It is still a lot of fun for me. There is so much spontaneity and assortment in the personalities that I can encounter that I just could not pass it up!
